• What are the exact dimensions?

  • The outside dimensions of the toybox are 40"L x 21" W x 20" H
    Inside dimensions are 36"L x 18 1/2"W x 17"H.
    
    

• Are they made of real wood?

  • Other than the metal hardware, it is entirely made of wood… beautiful wood! Solid red oak is used for the corner posts. Oak veneered panels are trimmed with solid oak. The border is carved out of 1/4" Baltic wood.
    
    

• What about the optional solid cedar base?

  • The classic blanket chests of years ago were always made of cedar. This would protect cloth items from insects, etc. For only $15 we can put a solid cedar base in the bottom of the toybox and blanket chest. This not only has a functional purpose but also adds style to the classic oak box.
    
    

• What kind of finish does the oak box have?

  • The stain we use has warm amber coloring with slight reddish tones. The finish would be best described as a natural oak finish. We use just enough stain to bring out the beautiful oak grain. We use a special nontoxic waterbased topcoat that is extremely durable. The industry uses this same finish on custom kitchen and bath cabinets. The topcoat is a clear satin finish
    

• What do you mean by handcrafted?

  • Each classic oak toybox & blanket chest is made by hand in our shop. This is not a manufactured product. When purchasing a handcrafted item you'll be expressing uniqueness and will be insured of a quality product.
    

• Can I order an unfinished toybox?

  • Yes, there is a $45 discount for an unfinished(unstained) product. It can be very rewarding to finish your own box! You can then match to any decor. Most stains with a polyurethane topcoat will work well. We recommend a product made by Minwax called "Polyshades" that is a polyurethane and stain mixed together which is very easy to use. Finishing instructions are included with your purchase.
    
    

• Is the toybox safe?

  • Our family has a toddler and a 4 year old. We have designed this toybox and blanket chest for the safety of our family and yours! (As you can about imagine, we have lots of toyboxes in our house!)

    Most important, 2 lid supports are used so the toybox does not slam down when lifted up...

    • ...whatever position the lid position, it does NOT drop.

  • When you receive your toybox or blanket chest you will undoubtedly be satisfied with the quality and durability of our product. Our customers can testify to this. (View Testimonials) However, if for any reason you are dissatisfied with the product, return it to Wood Creations Co. within 30 days and receive a full refund. (contacting us)
    
    

• Is assembly required?

  • Yes, the classic oak box is ready to assemble and requires a regular and Phillips screwdriver and only about 20 minutes of your time. We include easy to read instructions with photos.
    
    

• What about shipping costs?
  

  • Shipping is Free to our customers in the US or Canada. For other locations please contact Wood Creations Co. so shipping rates can be arranged. (contacting us)
    
    

• How is it shipped?

  • The toybox and blanket chest will be shipped USPS (United States Postal Service). We can also ship by UPS. Please contact us for this request.

    
    

• How long does delivery take?

  • Toyboxes and blanket chests are custom made with your border and specifications. Because of that, they are made as soon as we receive your order. Please allow 5 to 6 weeks for delivery. E-mail us for current delivery times. contact us
    

• I want to give the toybox as a gift. How can this be arranged?

  • No problem. Go ahead and order your classic oak box. After ordering,
    e-mail or phone us. Give us special instructions such as an alternated shipping address, requested arrival date, or any other information that will help you make it a terrific gift and surprise!
    
    

• Is this a secure site for my credit card?

  • Yes, safe and secure. Credit card processing is done through PayPal. The information you submit is encrypted, meaning it is coded so nobody can intercept the transaction.
